Die 5 coolsten Veranstaltungen diese Woche in Wien.

1/ Thursday Special: Symphony for the Brave (Thur 19-21h - Free)

Diesen Donnerstag gibt es im America House eine Mischung aus Vorträgen und Live Musik. Das Thema dabei ist, wie afroamerikanische Musiker*innen auf die österreichische Musik Einfluss genommen haben. Man muss sich für die Veranstaltung per e-mail anmelden ([email protected]).

Alternativ kann man sich auch mit beim Büroschluss einen lustigen Abend machen und das Tanzbein schwingen!

„Hör ma sich“ – das Pendant zur „Seh ma sich“-Reihe von Grätzlsound. Nur handelt es sich hier nicht um eine Party, sondern um eine Listening-Session.
Bei dieser geht es gezielt darum, neue, und noch nicht fertiggestellte elektronische Musik unterschiedlichster Genres zu hören und sich darüber auszutauschen.

Das Vinyl & Music Festival begeistert durch seine einzigartige Mischung aus Musikalien-Verkaufsausstellung, Plattenbörse, Indie Label Market, Live-Auftritten, Get-together, Sonderschauen und Specials.

Alternativ kann man übrigens auch mal eine Brauereiführung in der Ottakringerbrauerei machen die sehr spannend ist! Hier sieht man wie das wohl bekannteste Wiener Bier gemacht wird und natürlich gibt es auch eine Verkostung! Dazu kann man sich hier anmelden, mit dem Code ‘wien16’ bekommt man übrigens 16% Rabatt.

Der wohl beste Vintage Markt dieses Wochenende. Wer also noch ein paar neue Outfits für den Frühlingsbeginn braucht, sollte diese Veranstaltung nicht verpassen! Übrigens, direkt beim Brunnenmarkt, also perfekt um danach oder davor dort vorbeizuschauen!

5/ Critical Consumption (Sat, Sun 10-18h - €15)

Im MAK gibt es aktuell eine spannende Ausstellung ‘Critical Consumption’, die einen kritischen Blick auf unsere Modeindustrie und unser Konsumverhalten wirft.

The 5 best events this weekend.

This Thursday evening there is a special event happening in the America House, organized by the US embassy. The event explores how African-Americans have influenced the Austrian classical music scene.

To do so, there will be a mixture of live music and presentations. Important, you have to sign-up via e-mail here: [email protected].

Alternatively, if you are more in a dancing/partying mood, you can check out Büroschluss.

‘Hör ma sich’ is a local event at Loft that is not just about partying but is more of an active listening session. It’s created for artists to show case new (electronic) tracks, discuss unfinished work and connect to other music enthusiasts.

If you enjoy some electronic music and connecting to the Austrian scene, this is the place to be.

The Vinyl & Music festival, is a unique combination of a vinyl market and live concerts.

Alternatively, I can also recommend going to a guided tour trough the Ottakringer beer brewery. During the event, you learn about one of Vienna’s most iconic breweries and of course there will be a tasting as well! You can register here and there is a discount code ‘wien16’ that gives you 16% off the ticket.

Probably the best vintage market in Vienna this weekend. Additionally it’s right next to ‘Brunnenmarkt’ which is an awesome farmers market that is surrounded by some of the best cafés and restaurants in town!

At the ‘MAK’ there is an exhibition that critically explores consumption in the context of the fashion industry. They use fashion as a vehicle to explore how consumerism impacts our world and societies.
